"Yes, I am trying to run out the clock." - Rep. Alan Seabaugh
June 05, 2018
(Monday, June 4, 2018) - In the final moments of the second special session of 2018, Rep. Alan Seabaugh intentionally ran the clock out in as members were set to consider a measure that would have avoided cuts to higher education, TOPS and other critical state programs. The maneuver is forcing the legislature into another special session at a cost of more than $60,000 per day.
A clear majority of legislators supported a bipartisan proposal passed by the Senate that would have resulted in a reduction of the tax burden on the people of Louisiana of $500 million. That plan would also cut $200 million in government spending.
A Chance and a Choice
May 25, 2018
Right now, we have a chance and we have a choice. We can seize this opportunity to solve a problem that we have seen coming for two years, or we can choose to keep things the way they are. I choose to look to the future - to Louisiana's future. I see this as an opportunity to make #OurLouisiana the state we want it to be. Let's get the job done. #lagov
