Governor Jindal Announces Millions Approved for Central Louisiana Capital Outlay Construction Projects

BATON ROUGE – Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced that the State Bond Commission approved millions of dollars for projects in Central Louisiana. 

Governor Bobby Jindal said, “Investing in these key projects throughout Central Louisiana will continue to improve our state's colleges and universities, health care services and infrastructure. We'll continue making strategic investments like these around our state to improve the quality of life for our people and make this region more attractive to companies that want to invest in our state and create jobs."

Central Louisiana projects submitted to the State Bond Commission include:
  • $7 million in funding for the construction of outpatient health clinics, planning and construction in Rapides Parish;
  • $1.2 million in funding for a new dormitory building at the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts, planning and construction in Natchitoches Parish with an additional $22.15 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $23.35 million;
  • $500,000 in funding for an emergency connection with Sabine Parish Waterworks District 1, planning and construction in Sabine Parish;
  • $450,000 in funding for infrastructure improvement construction at LSU Alexandria in Rapides Parish;
  • $325,000 in funding for the Catahoula Parish Courthouse roof, planning and renovations in Catahoula Parish;
  • $315,000 in funding for a replacement water well, connections and equipment, for the Red Hill Waterworks, planning and construction in Winn Parish;
  • $300,000 in funding for a water treatment and supply system study in Sabine Parish;
  • $260,000 in funding drainage improvements in Jonesville, planning and construction in Catahoula Parish;
  • $245,000 in funding for the rehabilitation of an elevated water tank in Rosepine, planning and construction in Vernon Parish;
  • $200,000 in funding for the Sugarhouse Road from Eddie Williams Blvd. to LA Hwy. 1, Phase I and Phase II, planning and construction in Rapides Parish with an additional $230,000 in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $430,000;
  • $200,000 in funding for Northwestern State University parking lot repairs, planning and construction in Natchitoches Parish;
  • $200,000 in funding for an emergency connection in Hornbeck with the Anacoco Water system, planning and construction in Vernon Parish;
  • $200,000 in funding for the Concordia Parish Public Health Center renovation, planning and construction in Concordia Parish;
  • $180,000 in funding for the rehabilitation of an elevated water tank in Hornbeck, planning and construction in Vernon Parish;
  • $70,000 in funding for the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts stair railings to address code violations, planning and construction in Natchitoches Parish;
  • $65,000 in funding for an extension of the potable water line to Hutton, planning and construction in Vernon Parish;
  • 60,000 in funding for the Pinecrest Supports and Services Center sprinkler systems for residences, porches and walkways, planning and construction in Rapides Parish;
  • $50,000 in funding for color removal from Rapides Waterworks District 3 well No. 2 and No. 7 at the Louisiana Army National Guard, Camp Beauregard, planning and construction in Rapides Parish;
  • $40,000 in funding for the rehabilitation and/or replacement of lift stations and equipment in Leesville, planning and construction in Vernon Parish.
