Nov 07, 2012 BATON ROUGE – Governor Bobby Jindal issued the following statement on the result of several Louisiana ballot initiatives: “In yesterday's election, Louisianians scored major victories for education reform, ethics reform, gun rights and economic development. “Across the state, in parish after parish, Louisianians approved term limits for local school board members. Voters also supported an amendment that allows courts to impose a forfeiture of publicly funded retirement benefits for elected officials convicted of a felony associated with the elected office they held. “By a significant margin, we also passed Louisiana's own version of the Second Amendment that will require any restriction on gun ownership be subject to strict scrutiny. Finally, Louisianians approved a new Constitutional Amendment that will help our state continue to outpace the Southern and national economies by giving our state another economic development tool to help us attract new opportunities for our workers.” ### |
