Feb 04, 2013 BATON ROUGE – Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the reappointment of Joseph Ardoin to the Prison Enterprises Board. The Prison Enterprises Board serves to lower the cost of incarcerating inmates by utilizing the resources of the Department of Safety and Corrections in the production of food, fiber, and other necessities used by inmates. Additionally the board provides products and services to state and parish agencies, municipalities, public employees, and other political subdivisions and offers lawful work opportunities to inmates. According to the statute, the board is comprised of seven gubernatorial reappointments to be submitted to the senate for confirmation, including:
Joseph Ardoin, of Greenwell Springs, is the administrator of the Health and Welfare Pension fund for the Carpenters Union. Ardoin will be reappointed to serve as a nominee of the Louisiana AFL-CIO, as required by statute. ### |
