Feb 22, 2013 BATON ROUGE- Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of Stephen Kantrow to the Louisiana Cancer and Lung Trust Fund Board. The Louisiana Cancer and Lung Trust Fund Board serves to reduce the risk, incidence, morbidity, mortality, and economic impact of cancer on citizens of the state by planning and monitoring statewide efforts in education, early detection, screening, prevention, research, and surveillance. According to statue, the board is comprised of twelve gubernatorial appointments, subject to senate confirmation. Members include one representative from each of the following entities:
Stephen Kantrow, MD, of New Orleans, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans. He has been extremely active internationally, leading an effort to develop a global pulmonary exchange program in tobacco-related diseases. Dr. Kantrow will be appointed to serve as a representative of the American Lung Association of Louisiana, Inc., as required by statute. ### |
