Mar 09, 2013 BATON ROUGE – Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the reappointment of Terry Baugh to the Louisiana Workforce Investment Council. The Louisiana Workforce Investment Council serves to develop a strategic plan to coordinate and integrate a workforce development delivery system to ensure efficiency and cooperation between public and private entities by advising the governor on the needs of Louisiana’s employers and its workforce. According to the statute, the council is comprised of 41 members including the governor, the director of the Louisiana Workforce Commission, the secretary of the Department of Social Services, the secretary of the Department of Economic Development, the state superintendent of education, the president of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, the commissioner of higher education, the secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections, the executive director of the office of elderly affairs, and one gubernatorial appointee who is a CEO of a community-based organization. Additionally, members of the council include two representatives of parish and city government who may be selected from nominations submitted by various government associations, four representatives of organized labor selected from nominations submitted by the Louisiana AFL-CIO, two members of the Louisiana State Senate, appointed by the president of the Senate, and two members of the Louisiana House of Representatives, appointed by the speaker of the House. The remaining twenty-one members are gubernatorial appointments representing business and industry, of whom one must represent a woman-owned business, and at least two must represent minority-owned businesses. Terry Baugh, of West Monroe, is the CFO of D&J Construction Company, Inc., a heavy highway construction company. Baugh will be reappointed to serve as a representative of the general business community, as required by statute. ### |
