Baton Rouge - Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards released the following statement on the U.S. Senate race in Louisiana:
"Donna and I congratulate Senator-elect John Kennedy on his victory tonight. I look forward to working with him to secure additional funding for flood relief, to make long term investments in our infrastructure and to bring Louisiana’s federal tax dollars home to help our people. We face significant challenges in the future, but I know that by working together, we can deliver great things for the people of Louisiana. Donna and I will keep Senator-elect Kennedy, his wife Becky and their son Preston in our prayers as he begins his service to our nation in the U.S. Senate.
"I would also like to thank Commissioner Foster Campbell for his long history of public service to our great state and for offering himself up for higher office in the U.S. Senate. I know that Foster will continue to fight for the people of Louisiana, and I look forward to working with him in the future. He and his wife, Gwen, have been great friends to our family, and we appreciate all of their hard work on behalf of the people of our state."
