Gov. John Bel Edwards and his Office of Community Development have sent several important requests to federal officials this week in an ongoing effort to speed flood-recovery assistance to impacted residents.
Gov. Edwards sent a letter directly to President Donald Trump, appealing once again for $2 billion in additional recovery funding.
In addition, the Office of Community development sent two separate requests to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. One seeks a waiver to low-to-moderate-income spending requirements on the state’s $1.2 billion appropriation. The other seeks an extension to a critical deadline approaching in the assistance application process.
