Boards & Commissions
Our office applies the Louisiana Constitution and statutory law to manage governor appointments for over 500 boards and commissions throughout Louisiana. On behalf of Governor Landry, we appreciate the sacrifice our appointees make in offering their time and commitment toward the betterment of Louisiana.
Appointment Opportunities and Nomination Process
A listing of boards and commissions is found on the Senate webpage
- Search by key word for boards which interest you.
- Review the statute for the board’s specific purpose and membership rules
- Determine which seat of the membership you qualify to fill
- Request nominations where appropriate
- Have nominations submitted to boards@la.gov
- Because every governor appointment will go through senate confirmation, it is also a good idea to speak with your local senator for a nomination. You can use the Find My Legislators tool to determine who that is.

Additional Information
Pleasure: Members may be removed at the pleasure of the Governor.
Concurrent: Members sit for a term concurrent with the governor’s term; the member may be removed for cause
Specific Term: The specific number of years for a term is set by statute. The member will serve that number of years and have a specific term end date. The member may only be removed for cause. At the end of the term, the seat is considered expired but not vacant.
R. S. 24:14K 2. (B) The appointee may continue to serve until the end of the second regular session of the Legislature following the expiration of the term. This means that a term is not vacant until the end of 2 regular sessions following the term end date.

Resignations: Email your resignation including board name and specific date of resignation to boards@la.gov and the director of your board.
